AC4BF_SC_SP_02_Whale.JPGLand ho, mateys! Believe it or not, the shores of the next island of Assassin’s Creed are already in sight. And just in case you’re not following the seafaring analogy, Ubisoft announced yesterday that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be releasing this October, across all of the major console platforms in October, specifically Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii U on the 29th. It will also be coming for PC and Playstation 4 at currently undisclosed dates. Under development for nearly two years already, it continues to involve more and more of Ubisoft’s studios around the world; starting off with Ubisoft Montreal and continuing with Quebec, Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Singapore and, finally, Sofia (I’m going to have to look up some of these places).

As already mentioned, Black Flag follows a new assassin, a Royal Navy privateer-turned-pirate named Edward Kenway, and a new storyline that hits the high seas during the dawn of the 18th century. You’ll find yourself in the Golden Age of Pirates, encountering infamous pirates like Blackbeard and Charles Vane. As with previous installments, Playstation players are getting some preferential treatment, as they will be able to download “60 minutes” of additional gameplay via the PSN upon the game’s launch.
